August 07 2023 - Kory Hooks Ford
Kory Hooks Ford Bowie TX

Who can resist the sizzle and aroma of a perfectly grilled patty nestled in a fresh bun? Not us! Bowie, TX knows its burgers. Whether you crave a classic cheeseburger or a creation that pushes the culinary envelope, Bowie’s joints have you covered. Let’s embark on a lip-smacking tour of Bowie’s best burger spots.

Just Down the Road: Three Spots for the Best Burgers Near Bowie, TX

Burger Kitchen

You’ll find this here at 1006 TX-59, and this popular local spot is widely considered to be Bowie’s best place for a hamburger (they also have awesome handheld pies, but that’s a discussion for another time). The menu here is refreshingly simple to navigate. Choose your cheeseburger as a basic double meat, double meat chili, double meat bacon, double meat jalapeno, double mushroom, and double mushroom Swiss.

Of course, you can get all these same flavors without them being “double,” but why would you? There’s also a taco burger, dogs and corn dogs, cheese fries, homemade onion rings, and milkshakes in a variety of flavors. They’re open 10am to 2pm Monday through Saturday.

Armadillo Grill

At 2606 FM174, (just off 287), the Armadillo Grill has great food, nice service, and a friendly, relaxed environment that’s just fun to eat in. They’re open from 6am until 9pm Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, they’re open a bit later until 10pm, and they’re closed on Monday.

When you open the menu, you’re going to see a lot of sandwiches that will tempt you. But you need to pass those by and take a look at the burger menu. These are formed in house, never frozen, and made from a half pound of beef on a brioche bun. With each, you get to choose from sweet potato or natural cut fries, beer-battered fries, homemade onion rings, or homemade potato chips. We love the bison burger here, too.

Sweet Boys Diner

This is another local institution at 220 N Mason St. They’re open from 7am until 2pm Sunday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, they stay open until 8:30pm. This is a family-friendly place with amazing, friendly service. Everything here is good, and it’s a popular spot for breakfast: but don’t let that keep you from coming round here for a burger at some point.

Keep it simple here: the Backyard Burger is great, with crisp lettuce and tomato, onion, and pickles. If you want to spice things up a bit, go for the El Paso burger. We’re partial to the Big J, though, with the bacon and cheddar.

Any of these spots will get you an amazing burger, so point the noise of your Ford F-150 towards one of them tonight. And when you need service on that Ford you know you can count on, come see us at Kory Hooks Ford.
